AI: What Do You Have to Say?

About The Event

AI is changing the world around us, but what do we want that future to look like?

The headlines range from extinction scenarios to visions of utopia. It can be easy to feel that the direction of AI is already being decided by governments, technology companies and a small number of people working in the field.

We want to challenge that feeling.

This evening is an open dialogue about what we want AI to mean for our future. What do we hope it can contribute? What are we concerned about? What should we be careful not to lose? And how can ordinary people and communities have a say in the direction this technology takes?

There will be no expert panel or lecture. Instead, we will create space for different perspectives, questions and concerns. You do not need to be an AI expert to join. Whether you are excited, sceptical, concerned or simply curious, you are welcome.

• There probably won't be a single answer at the end of the evening. Instead, we hope you will leave with new questions, perspectives and perhaps a clearer sense of what matters to you when it comes to AI.

• You may also leave with a better understanding of how others are thinking about the changes AI could bring to our work, relationships, communities and wider society.

• And hopefully, the feeling that the future of AI is not something that simply happens to us. We have a part to play in the conversation.
