You Matter
Dialog Event
A message that reminds us of the power we have - each and every one of us - to create real change in the face of the climate crisis.

This evening centered around a simple but powerful idea. That each of us matters more than we think.
Professor Karen O’Brien from the University of Oslo, an internationally recognized researcher on climate and social change, opened the session with reflections from her work. She spoke about how we are living in a decisive moment, where the choices we make today will shape life on earth for generations to come.
The conversation began with a common feeling. That individual actions can seem small in the face of something as large as the climate crisis. But her perspective offered a shift. Individual change is not separate from collective change. The way we think, act, and relate to others is already part of a larger system.
Through examples and discussion, the idea of agency became more tangible. Not as something abstract, but as something rooted in everyday life. Our values, our conversations, and the way we show up all have the potential to influence the people and systems around us.
Participants reflected on their own roles, questions, and possibilities. There was a sense that change does not always begin with big actions, but often with small shifts in awareness and intention.
The evening became a space to reconnect with that sense of possibility. A reminder that even in uncertain times, the way we choose to act and relate to the world still matters.
